Yes. I've been thinking about the whole, "I don't know if I want to be her or be with her" dilemma that so many queers face. But is it really a dilemma? Can't you have both at the same time? Can't you steal her clothing and love and admire her at the same time? I feel like somewhere down the road, queers were tricked into believing that we have to make a binary choice about who we desire. I'm just babbling at you right now, feel free to babble back (or not!). But I do like your Whitman ref! xo

I agree that we are tricked into thinking that way. But we also trick ourselves, I think. Most of the butch blogs and tumblrs I follow subscribe to that binary thinking. Which is funny, because in real life people don’t follow those rigid rules (butch/femme, top/bottom) as much as people seem to think on the internet. But it still gives me anxiety about how I appear and how that transmits who I desire. And thanks- the Whitman quote is my fav- I even have it tattooed!

Right now my bedroom furniture consists of a mattress on the floor and an old dresser, once I get the funds I am so doing this to my room.

School is really important: Reading, writing, arithmetic. But what they tend to do is teach you reading, writing, arithmetic…then teach you reading, writing, arithmetic again. Men’s average ideal weight is up 14 pounds since Gallup first measured it in 1990 and their average actual weight is up 16 pounds. Women’s average ideal weight is up 11 pounds since 1990, and their average actual weight is up 14 pounds. These trends suggest that as Americans have grown heavier overall, their concept of what their ideal weight is has been adjusted upward as well. These results are based on Gallup’s annual Health and Healthcare survey, conducted Nov. 15-18. Gallup has asked Americans how much they weigh yearly since 2001, as well as in 1990 and 1999.

Food for thought. I wonder about statistics for children, though. Working in the child care industry I hear all the time about the “child obesity epidemic”. And I see it, honestly. Kids weigh more, eat less healthy and exercise less than they used to. I’d like to see statistics of average children’s weights now compared to 1990.
